Priory Roses Plant Centre is a family run business, based on the site that originally
housed Nostell Priory Rose Gardens (owned by Lord St Oswald of Nostell Priory).
Nostell Priory Rose Gardens was originally founded in 1954 by Arnold Greensitt, father
of Ian Greensitt (owner of Priory Roses) and head gardener to the then Lord St Oswald.
During the first quarter of a century of existence, this creative business matured,
as one of the foremost Rose Growers and Rose Breeders in Britain.
Roses bred for posterity from (Nostell) Priory Roses included to name but a few:
Novia, Priory Rose, Pride of Wansbeck, City of Sheffield, Sunderland Supreme, Priory
Pride, Leicester Abbey, Countess of Home & the ARNOLD GREENSITT rose - which was
named in his honour following his death in 1981.
Today Priory Roses Plant Centre is based at Foulby, just outside of Wakefield, and
is still run by the Greensitt family and focuses on providing a wide selection of
high quality roses and shrubs to the public as well as supplying wholesale containerised
Our key aim is to provide a wide range of traditional and popular varieties whilst
seeking out the latest new breeds and best sellers. Throughout the year we run regular
promotions on in-season stock, so please sign up to our mailing list to keep up to
date with our offers.
